Of a sporting tradition

It is a feather in Kerala's cap - the `Human Endurance' gallery set up at the Regional Science Centre and Planetarium in Kozhikode.

The sporting traditions of the State have been lauded time and again.

A state-of-the-art gallery that showcases equipment to test the level of human endurance in different situations, especially that of sportspersons, is an added attraction at the Regional Science Centre here.

The `Human Endurance' gallery inaugurated at the RSC on February 2 is reportedly the first of its kind to be set up at any regional science centre in the entire country.

I.K. Mukherjee, Director-General of the National Council of Science Museums, explained that the RSC Kozhikode was selected for the gallery built at a cost of Rs.45 lakh because of the good performance of Keralites in sports events.

In keeping with the objective of the initiative, the brochure of the Science Centre on the human endurance gallery depicts ace athlete P.T. Usha.
