Srikakulam: District Collector V. Nagendra Vishnu on Thursday urged agricultural officers and scientists to see that the latest technology was made available to farmers so that they could compete in the global market. Big players would enter retail marketing in agriculture and there would be stress on the quality of the product, Mr. Vishnu said. Addressing agricultural officers after laying foundation stone for the building of Agricultural Officers' Association here, Mr. Vishnu said that the State Government was formulating village-level plans, keeping in mind ground realities, he said. Development in farm sector should be fast to catch up with changing scenario. He also stressed the importance of using genetically modified seed to get good results. C.V. Prasad, State unit secretary of the association, said the Government filled 500 posts of agricultural officer and gave green signal for filling 480 more posts.
