Tagore's remark draws ire of vedike activists

Special Correspondent

MYSORE: The agitation against the Cauvery Water Disputes Tribunal took a violent turn on Thursday when activists of Karnataka Rakshana Vedike stormed the office of the Information Department and ransacked the reading room and library.

The immediate provocation for the act was the reported statement of K.V. Ravindranath Tagore, Commissioner published in the media which did not go down well with the vedike activists. Mr. Tagore, who was participating in a workshop for media personnel from rural areas, reportedly said that news coverage of the Cauvery issue could have been more balanced while remarking that agitations were staged purely for publicity.
