COIMBATORE: The defence counsel in the Coimbatore serial blasts case on Thursday said that inherent contradictions in the case records were going against the case of the prosecution in respect of a blast at a shopping complex at Sundarapuram on February 14, 1998. Defence counsel R. Gopalan placed his arguments before the Judge of the Special Court for Bomb Blast Cases; K. Uthirapathy. T. Balasundaram and T.A. Selvaraj represented the prosecution. More than 50 persons were killed and over 250 were injured in the serial blasts.
Photo mismatch
Photographs taken at the scene of occurrence and the rough sketch prepared by the investigating officer were not corresponding with each other. Materials found in the photographs were not found in the rough sketch prepared by the police officer. The photographs taken by the police photographer at the scene of blast were not produced before the court.
