HYDERABAD: Coimbatore-based Suguna Poultry Farm Ltd., the market leader in Rs.10,000-crore broiler chicken segment, has announced its foray into layer chick business. The company has tied up with Germany's Lohmann Tierzucht GmbH, which has a 25 per cent share of international layer market to bring Lohman LSL Lite, touted to be best suited for Indian conditions. Talking to reporters here on Thursday coinciding with the launch of the product, Managing Director B.Soundararajan, said that it was planning to capture a sizable marketshare in the next three years.
Advantages
He cited 325 plus eggs during the 72-week hen-housed period, bigger egg size and less feed intake as the advantages of new layer chick to be hitting the market on March 1 in Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka and Tamil Nadu. He said the company was expecting a turnover of Rs.1,400 crores this financial year, an increase of Rs.300 crores from that of last year. After having started three fast-food `Rail Road' brand restaurants in Bangalore recently, on the lines of KFC, the company was planning to offer franchising across the country, including one in Hyderabad in the next fiscal.
