All parties blame State for giving in to MLAs

UNITY IN PROTEST: Leaders of all parties stage a dharna at Gandhi statue in Tirupati on Thursday, protesting against abrupt transfer of Chittoor district Superintendent of Police.

TIRUPATI: Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy has denied that the Government bowed to political pressure from party MLAs in transferring the incumbent Superintendent of Police Charu Sinha out of the district.

Answering a volley of queries from media persons on the raging issue here on Thursday, Dr.Reddy said that it was a routine transfer . He asserted that her services would be used more effectively as SP in Mahabubnagar.

All-party dharna

Meanwhile, a dharna was conducted earlier in the day, at Gandhi circle where leaders of TDP, BJP, CPI, CPI(M) and even Congress took part and expressed their anguish over the transfer of `an honest police official'. Targeting the Government for `budging' to pressure from Congress MLAs the demonstrators also accused the Chief Minister of lacking reason in taking an impartial decision .

TDP district convenor N.Amarnath Reddy, CPI(M) district secretary K.Murali, BJYM State president G.Bhanuprakash Reddy and others demanded that the transfer order be rescinded immediately.
