Central team visits Madanapalle

Correspondent:

Madanapalle: The Central drought team visited Madapanapalle from Tirupati on Wednesday. Members of the team went to G. Dandaboyanapalle and Valmikipuram mandals and saw dried up tanks there and interacted with farmers. They said a report would be submitted to the Government within 10 days. At a meeting held at the Sub-Collector's office in the evening, they said that farmers should also be given loan on 25 paise interest rate like DWCRA groups so as to improve their standard of living.

They said that more than the number of bore wells sunk, supply of water was important. In Karimnagar, a permanent solution was found and the same should be followed in all drought-prone areas. The Handri Neeva project would solve the water problem, it hoped.
