KURNOOL: The Directorate of Higher Education agreed in principle to form a body in collaboration with the Indian Association of Chemistry Teachers (IACT) to promote basic sciences especially chemistry. The delegation comprising M. N. Sudheendra Rao of IIT Madras, K. Sudhakar Babu of SKU PG Centre, Kurnool, P.K. Prakash of Osmania University, M.R.R. Prasad of Vikram Sarabhai Space Centre, S. Srihari of Kakatiya University and others met Director of Higher Education Laxminaryana and represented to him the need for promoting basic sciences among youth. The panel suggested implementation of `National Initiative on Undergraduate Science', conduct of seminars and workshops and programmes that increased awareness about environment.
