Proposal to hike power tariff

BHUBANESWAR: Central Electricity Supply Utility (CESU) has proposed a tariff hike of 16.35 per cent from present 285 paise per unit to 331.59 p/u for the financial year, 2007-2008. Orissa Electricity Regulatory Commission , which heard annual revenue requirement (ARR) and tariff filing of CESU on Thursday, said the ARR of CESU excluding losses amounted to Rs. 1123.52 crores while projected revenue was expected to be around Rs. 919.94 crores. The regulatory authority said the CESU also proposed higher average tariff increase for subsidised category, voltage wise loss stipulation for computing revenue requirement, category wise tariff to bridge revenue gap and past losses.
