Bangalore: Southern Blues attempted a futile comeback in the second half, while Karnataka State Police (KSP) ran out winner with a 2-1 verdict in a Super Division football league match at the Football Stadium here on Thursday. KSP thrived on an early burst that yielded two goals in 11 minutes to shut Southern Blues out of the match. KSP found its lead in the ninth minute. Srinath's volley evoked a feeble response from Southern Blues's custodian Arun Babu, who failed to gather the ball cleanly. An agile Archan slotted it home. Two minutes later, Archan combined well with Kartik who fired in a diagonal shot past a flailing Arun. KSP did press hard for more goals but were caught unawares when Southern Blues mounted a quick riposte. Cholan centred one for Chandrashekar to score past KSP goalkeeper Nagendra.
The results: Super Division: KSP 2 (Archan 9th, Kartik 11th) bt Southern Blues 1 (Chandrasekhar 50th). `A' Division: DYSH 4 (Kalandhar 47th, 53rd and 76th, Enosh 45th) bt AGORC 0.
