MCD seals 19 properties

NEW DELHI: The Municipal Corporation of Delhi on Thursday sealed 19 illegal commercial properties in residential areas of the city.

In its drive carried out in Najafgarh Zone, 13 premises were sealed between Khaira More and Ghummanhera village, while six were targeted on North Avenue Road (Manohar Singh Kochar Marg) and in West Punjabi Bagh between Club Road and Rohtak Road in West Zone.

Information system for Kasturba Hospital

NEW DELHI: Municipal Commissioner A. K. Nigam on Thursday commissioned a new "Hospital Information System" at Kasturba Hospital. Mr. Nigam said computerisation of the maternity and child hospital would save time, leading to better patient care through improved management, easy access to information and better documentation.

Additional Commissioner K. D. Akolia said patients would not have to worry about maintaining their records as every patient would be given a unique registration number.

New D-G for Power Training Institute

NEW DELHI: Dr. N. S. Saxena has taken over as Director-General of the National Power Training Institute.

A postgraduate from Nagpur University, he acquired his doctoral degree from IIT Kanpur. Prior to his current appointment, Dr. Saxena held the post of Executive Director of the Power Grid Corporation of India in Jammu. He has also held various positions in academic institutions and NTPC.

High Court directive to DDA

NEW DELHI: The Delhi High Court on Thursday directed the Delhi Development Authority to file a detailed report about misuse of government land allotted to charitable societies here at below market rates for building hospitals.

A Division Bench of the Court comprising Justice Swatanter Kumar and Justice H. R. Malhotra passed the direction when counsel for DDA submitted that of the 70 plots allotted to charitable societies, hospitals existed only on 36 plots. He said DDA had no information on the status of the remaining 24 plots. The Court has asked the DDA to file an affidavit on February 14.

One arrested for murder

NEW DELHI: More than two months after a housewife was killed in an East Delhi locality, police on Thursday claimed to have cracked the case by arresting her nephew and his friend, who it said committed the murder for robbery.
