MTC re-jigs Perambur bus services from today

Routes re-arranged for flyover soil tests

CHENNAI : The Metropolitan Transport Corporation (MTC) from Friday (February 9) will temporarily shift the Perambur bus terminus and re-allocate some services from the depot to Mangalapuram bus stop. The move will facilitate the Corporation to carry out soil tests around the Perambur railway subway.

A press note issued by the Corporation on Thursday said the civic agency was carrying out soil tests for the Perambur flyover project. The construction of the flyover is set to resume after a gap of more than 5 years. Over the past couple of months, engineers have carried out extensive tests at the site.

Buses on the routes 7A, 29A, 29B, 29C, 29E, 29M and 29N will be operated from Mangalapuram to the south of the Perambur railway station.

Buses diverted

Apart from those services, MTC has diverted buses operated from the following places: Periyar Nagar - routes 8A, 29, B29C, 29L, 42 and 46B; Peravallur Kumaran Nagar - 29N extension, 29A extension and 142B; G.K.M Colony - 42 extension; Poompuhar - 42B; and Srinivasa Nagar - 42D. These buses will be operated via Retteri and diverted via Paper Mills Road, Perambur Church, Perambur R.S., Perambur B.S. and Ganeshapuram.

Buses on routes 8B and 38C - operated from TVK Nagar Terminus - would be operated via Kennedy Square, Don Bosco School, Lakshmiamman Koil, Melpatti Ponnappa Street, P.P.Road, Ganesapuram and P1 Police Station.

Buses on routes 46, 46A and 37B shall be operated in the course of Kennedy Square, Don Bosco School, Lakshmiamman Koil, Melpatti Ponnappa Street, P.P.Road, Ganesapuram, Stephenson Road, Cooks Road and Otteri. Buses on routes 29C extension, 48A, 48A extension, 46C - operated via Moolakadai - shall be operated in the course of Melpatti Ponnappa Street, P.P.Road, Ganesapuram and Cooks Road. Buses on route 29D extension shall be operated via Moolakkadai, Melpatti Ponnappa Street, P.P.Road, Ganesapuram and P1 Police Station.
