Mobile phone lifter arrested

Tiruchi: The police arrested Ravi (47) recently on the charge of stealing mobile phones and seized six cell phones from his possession. A police team was conducting rounds at Junction bus stand when Ravi, who was holding a plastic bag, suddenly began to run on seeing them. The team caught him and found six cell phones in the bag. He was later remanded to judicial custody.

Surprise checks

TNEB Officials conducted surprise checks in industrial units and commercial establishments coming under the Rockfort office jurisdiction on Wednesday. A total number of 555 power connections were checked. Violations were detected in some connections, a press release said.

Mettur level

The level in the Mettur dam stood at 83.90 feet against its full level of 120 feet on Thursday. The inflow was 231 cusecs and the discharge from the dam was 2,000 cusecs. — Staff Reporter
