NEW DELHI: The 39th anniversary celebrations of Vishnu Sahasranama Satsangam, R.K. Puram, will be held this Saturday and Sunday at Sankara Vidya Kendra in Vasant Vihar here with Vishnu Sahasranama and Lalitha Sahasranama parayanams. According to the Trustee, T. Subramanian, the late V. Ramanatha Iyer and a few others with the sole objective of bringing devotees together for group recitation of Vishnu Sahasranamam on Sundays formed the Satsangam in February 1968. Over the past 39 years there has been an uninterrupted weekly recitation with multi-crore chanting of divine namas. On Saturday, Dr. Nirmal Kumar, Reader in Sanskrit at Bharati College, will release a book, "Lakshmyashtottara Satanama Niruktistuthi-Part 2", translated into English from Sanskrit slokas, by Dr. V.S. Karunakaran. Prof. V.S. Ramamurthy, Chairman of the Board of Governors of IIT Delhi, will distribute prizes to winners of Vishnu Sahasranamam recitation competition conducted by the Satsangam. Rendering of Tiruppugazh will follow this programme. On Sunday afternoon, eminent Carnatic musicianswill give vocal music concert In the evening there will be a religious discourse on Anjaneya Utsavam by P. Subbarama Bhagvathar and party.
