MADURAI: The resurrection of Uranganpatti industrial estate is a sign of industrial development gaining momentum in the district, said the District Collector, T. Udhayachandran, here on Thursday. Inaugurating the 23rd All India Ideal Home Exhibition, organised by the Madurai District Tiny and Small Scale Industries Association (MADITSSIA), on the Tamukkam grounds, the Collector said that with the tidal park set to come up in the city soon, the day was not far off when the perceived stagnation in the process of development would be obviated. He said that efforts were under way to identify a permanent site for holding trade fair, as in Coimbatore. The proposal to have it constructed under public-private partnership should help hasten the process, he added. The president of MADITSSIA, P.T. Krishnamoorthy, said that the association's objective in organising the exhibition was to spread awareness of industrial development in the district. The chairman, Ideal Home Exhibition, KR. Gnanasambandan, explained the arrangements at the exhibition. N.R. Subramanya Raja, past chairman, All India Manufacturers' Association, and S. R. Nayak, Divisional Director, Kadhi And Village Industries Commission, also spoke. P. Sitaraman, secretary, MADITSSIA, proposed a vote of thanks.
