Public contribute funds for schools

VILLUPURAM: The people of Villupuram district have contributed Rs 5.50 crore worth of movable and immovable properties to various schools. It shows the interest of the people in promotion of education, said Thangam Thennarasu, Minister for School Education.

He was speaking at a meet on "School Reforms" held here on Thursday. Mr. Thennarasu said the main objective of the conference was to underline the importance of the people's participation in improving the facilities in schools. On the occasion Higher Education Minister Ponmudi and Mr. Thennarasu opened 47 school buildings built at a cost of Rs 24 crore.
