COIMBATORE: Nandini Voice for the Deprived, a Chennai based non-Government organisation recently conducted an essay competition for women college students on "Is Moral Policing Necessary?"
Students from various parts of the country participated.
A majority of the entries said that the Government should keep away from moral issues and it had only legal jurisdiction, according to a release from the NGO. Problems regarding moral issues could be solved by strengthening familial ties and that parents and teachers should become role models for students and bring about a progressive attitudinal change amongst them, students said in their essays.
Ida Mathew and Christine Ann Thomas from Nirmala College for Women, Coimbatore, were among those selected for cash awards.
