SCALING ANOTHER HEIGHT: Tata group chairman Ratan Tata near the F/A-18 Super Hornet Combat aircraft which he flew at the aero show in Bangalore on Friday.

Bangalore : Ratan Tata followed up his flight in the Lockheed Martin F-16 with a sortie in Boeing's F/A-18 Super Hornet on Friday.

He once again broke the sound barrier and flew at Mach 1.01. The flight lasted an hour and Tata handled the controls for about half the time.

The reticent business tycoon was more forthright on Friday than he was on Thursday, describing the experience as "terrific".

"It was a terrific, terrific ride. I really enjoyed today's flight. I just flew it in the air for a short while. Not very many manoeuvres. I really got the feel of this plane both at high speed and low speed."
