HYDERABAD: Protesting against the swelling mess bills after the common mess bill was introduced, activists of the ABVP gheraoed Osmania University Vice-Chancellor Suleman Siddiqui at his chambers on Friday.

A statement from the ABVP said the Vice-Chancellor instead of responding to their demands used the police force to disperse them leading to injuries to many students.

National council member Kadiyam Raju said that the mess bills have increased considerably after the common mess bill came into effect two months back and demanded that it be withdrawn immediately. He said the administration should reduce its expenditure on officials and use those funds to reduce mess bills. He also sought the resignation of the Vice-Chancellor.
