BSNL staff to strike work on April 25

Staff Correspondent

This decision was taken at a meeting of the union on Thursday

BIJAPUR: Employees of Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) will strike work on April 25 in support of their demands such as wage revision, Government's move to disinvest in BSNL and outsourcing part of its services.

A decision in this regard was taken at a three-day meeting of BSNL Employees' Union's Central Executive Committee here on Thursday.

Office-bearers and selected members of the union would go on a fast in front of telecom district offices on March 7 and in front of circle offices on March 27. Besides, office-bearers of the central committee would go on a fast at BSNL's headquarters in New Delhi on April 11.

Delivering the keynote address at the open session here, general secretary of the union V.A.N. Namboodari expressed concern over the tardy decision-making process, which, he feared, could land BSNL in a disadvantaged position in terms of competitive pricing and technology.
