No sweat for St. Xavier's College

Tirunelveli: Host St. Xavier's College beat VOC College (Tuticorin) 25-7, 25-22, 25-12 in the four-team league of the State-level Platinum inter-collegiate volleyball tournament at the hostel ground, Palayamkottai, on Friday.

In another match Adithanar College, Tirucherdur beat MDT Hindu College, Tirunelveli 25-16, 25-19, 25-18.

Adaikalam steals show

R. Adaikalam of SBK HSS (Aruppukottai) won three golds (100m, 200m and 400m) in the boys' section (VII Standard) of the World Beaters Talent spotting scheme athletics championship at the SDAT District stadium, Virudhunagar, on Friday.

The results (all winners): Boys: VIII Std.: 100m: A. Jeyaram (Devanger HSS, APKT); 200m: S. Ashok Kumar (SBK HSS, Kallurani); 400m: K. Raman (GHSS, Iluppaiyur).

Easy for PSNA

PSNA College of Engineering defeated Pannaikadu Veerammal Paramasivam College (K. Singarakottai) by 50 runs in the Dindigul District colleges cricket league for the RVS Trophy at Dindigul on Friday.

The scores: PSNA 201 for four in 23 overs (R. Karthik 53, P. Dayanidhi 40, S. Ramesh 45 not out) bt PVP College 151 for eight in 23 overs.

Balu Memorial FC chalks up win

Balu Memorial Football Club defeated Students Football Club 1-0 in a Tiruchi District Football Association super division league tie at Tiruchi on Friday.

Devarajan scored the winner in the first half.

The results: Super division: Balu MFC 1 (Devarajan) bt Students FC 0. Third division: Young Blood FC 0 drew with Nathard MFC 0; Master FC 0 drew with Thuvakudi FC 0.
