Lucknow: Within a year of her re-election after being disqualified, Samajwadi Party MP and Bollywood actress Jaya Bachchan is facing a fresh trouble with the Election Commission seeking an explanation for her alleged concealment of property details during filing of nomination papers for Rajya Sabha polls last year. The Commission has directed the returning officer to issue notice to Ms. Bachchan. It has sought an early reply to the notice which is based on her affidavit filed along with the nomination papers, according to sources here. A letter has also gone to State Chief Electoral Officer on the delay in acting upon a complaint in this regard lodged by a Congress leader Amir Haider from Barabanki last year. Ms. Bachchan was re-elected to the Rajya Sabha in a by-election after she was disqualified from the Upper House over Office of Profit controversy in March 2006. In his complaint, Mr. Haider had alleged that some agriculture property was bought by her husband Amitabh Bachchan last year in Barabanki district, but she did not mention that in her affidavit before the returning officer at the time of her election to Rajya Sabha in June last year. The Commission had earlier directed the returning officer and Vidhan Sabha Principal Secretary R P Pandey to investigate the matter. The returning officer had sought relevant documents from Mr. Haider which were submitted accordingly, the sources added.-- PTI
