LUCKNOW: Former Uttar Pradesh Assembly Speaker and senior Bahujan Samaj Party leader Barkhu Ram Verma died here on Friday after a long illness. He was 53. Mr. Verma, who held the office of Speaker from July 18, 1995 to March 26, 1997, was a follower of Bhimrao Ambedkar and a dedicated party worker. He also served as the BSP State unit president till he was relieved of the responsibilities recently due to his illness. He was a member of the Vidhan Parishad.
