BJP delegation to leave for Delhi to meet Kalam, Manmohan

HYDERABAD: The State unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party has asked the Congress introduce the bill on separate Telangana in the forthcoming budget session of Parliament as the issue brooked no further delay.

Addressing a press conference, State BJP president B. Dattatreya said a delegation of the party leaders would go to New Delhi shortly to meet the party's national leaders as well as President A.P.J. Abdul Kalam and Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to impress upon them the need for carving out separate States of Andhra and Telangana.

Panels constituted

The party's State leadership would also request the BJP Parliamentary Party to raise the statehood issue in Parliament and expose the Congress stand. Meanwhile, the party has constituted committees headed by senior leader Ch. Vidyasagar Rao and K. Haribabu to take up a campaign in Telangana and Andhra regions in favour of separate States. The committees would meet intellectuals and other sections of the two regions to mobilise public opinion in favour of separate States.

Referring to other issues, he criticised the Government for "politicising" the bureaucracy that was evident from the frequent transfer of IAS and IPS officials.
