AP squad for Games

VIJAYAWADA: The Andhra Pradesh Badminton Association (APBA) announced teams for the 33rd National Games, which starts on Friday at Guwahati.

The events will be held from February 14 to 18. Mr. K.Ch. Punniah Chowdary will be the chief referee. Mr. D. Raghuramaiah and Mr. J. Ankamma Choudary are the other officials nominated by BAI.

The teams:

Men: B. Chetan Anand, P. Kashyap, C.M. Sashidhar, J.B.S. Vidyadhar, Jayan James, K. Priyatham, T. Dinesh, M. Ramesh Naidu, S.D.S. Krishna, Uday Bhaskar, N.N. Vinayak, Tanishak.

Women: Saina Nehwal, Shruthi Kurian, Jwala Gutta, E. Deepthi Shalini, B. Deepthi Priyadharshini, P. Srinija, K. Radhika Reddy, Jyothi Swaroopa, P. Jyotsna, Ch. Deepti.

Kaza triumphs

At Visakhapatnam, Kaza Vinayaka Sarma of Visakhapatnam claimed his maiden National Talent Series Title in the under-16 category, by winning the Polyflex AITA championship held in Bangalore early this week.

Top seed Vinayaka Sarma beat unseeded Rishab Dev Raman of Tamil Nadu 6-1, 6-3 in the final. M. Divija made it a double for AP and also for herself. The second seed claimed the under-14 girls singles title beating Nova Patel of Gujarat 6-3, 7-6(1) after winning the doubles title. Divija and Neha Purohit beat Rishika Sunkara (Delhi) and Nova Patel 6-3, 6-7(5), 10-5 in the doubles final.

Junior Natl. bodybuilding

The 45th Junior national bodybuilding championship will be organised by Telangana Amateur Bodybuilding Association at Fateh Maidan Indoor Stadium on February 10 to 11, according to G. Vinod, Minister for Labour & Employment and patron of the Association.

Vinod informed media that about 250 bodybuilders from across the country would vie for top honours in the six bodyweight categories - 55kg, 60kg, 65kg, 70kg, 75kg and above 75kg.
