KUALA LUMPUR : Thai teenager Chinarat Phadungsil snatched the lead with a five-under-par 67 before a lightning storm interrupted the second round of the Maybank Malaysian Open here on Friday. The 18-year-old, already a two-time winner on the Asian Tour, struck seven birdies against two bogeys at the Saujana Golf and Country Club to snatch the lead. India's Jeev Milkha Singh, the Asian Tour's UBS Order of Merit champion last year, fired a second straight 71 while last week's Philippine Open winner Frankie Minoza carded a 70 as they were both stood at five off the lead.
Atwal begins well
Arjun Atwal grabbed the first opportunity that came his way to make an excellent beginning to his 2007 season with a five-under 67 for tied fourth place at the AT and T Pebble Beach National Prom-Am on Thursday. Atwal was two behind joint-leaders, Phil Mickelson, John Mallinger and Nick Watney, who shot seven-under 65 at the picturesque Pebble Beach course. Daniel Chopra, playing his first round at Poppy Hills, shot a one-under 71 and was tied 41st. Agencies
