KARIMNAGAR: BJP senior leader and former Union Minister Ch. Vidyasagar Rao has appealed to leaders of all political parties of Telangana region to unite and intensify the movement for a separate State. Addressing a press conference here on Friday, he said, the BJP alone would keep alive the movement for Telangana Statehood. He appealed to the Telangana Congress leaders to ignite the movement and pressurise the Government to ensure a Telangana State before the 2009 elections. Expressing concern over the sale of precious Government lands to private persons on the outskirts of the capital, he demanded that the Government stop it. Quoting the erstwhile State `kaulidhari' system, he said that the purchase and sale of lands in and around Hyderabad was prohibited. But, the Government has diluted the Act and was helping settlers in the purchase of lands in Hyderabad.
Land distribution
He demanded that the distribution of land to the landless be completed in the ensuing Assembly session. Tribals like koyas, gonds and such others should also be provided land, he said. He wanted a legislation to be brought in to provide house sites to all the poor people in the State. With regard to BJP MLC candidate C Venkatnarayana Reddy from the graduates' constituency from Karimnagar, Adilabad, Medak and Nizamabad districts, he said that the BJP would intensify its campaign and ensure his victory. BJP State vice-president G. Ramakrishna Reddy, Kisan Morcha State president P. Sugunakar Rao and others were present.
