CHENNAI: An AIADMK Member of Parliament (Rajya Sabha) was granted anticipatory bail by the Madras High Court on Friday. Justice R. Reghupathi granted anticipatory bail to R. Kamaraj, who had been charged with ransacking the Koradacheri police station in Tiruvarur district, and with obstructing police officials from discharging their duties.
Case foisted
According to P.H. Manoj Pandian, counsel for the petitioner, the police had "foisted the politically-motivated" case against Mr. Kamaraj, alleging that he had barged into the police station with two others and created problem with a view to free two other party functionaries who had been taken into custody in connection with another case. The petitioner said no one was injured in the alleged incident and that he would not hamper investigation if granted anticipatory bail.
