HYDERABAD: The Transport Department received yet another jolt in its effort to develop a new test track for those applying for new licences after the Government gave away the Nagole track land to the Police Transport Organisation. The alternative land identified for the new track has gone into litigation. A residential association, claiming that the alternative land allotted to the Transport Department behind the Nagole track for the new testing track belonged to them, went to court and is said to have obtained a stay order. "Though seven acres of land is insufficient for providing greenery, testing track and huge waiting hall, we agreed to establish the new office given its location. But with this new problem, it is back to square one," an official posted at RTA office in Nagole said. "We are not sure when the police officials will ask for the Nagole track land as the foundation stone for the new Government hospital was already laid on the PTO premises and construction activity may begin soon," he explained. When contacted, Joint Transport Commissioner B. Venkateswarlu said licences would be issued in the same office till the PTO took over the land. He said the disputed site was accessible for motorists unlike another site that was located far away in the interiors of Nagole area without any approach road.
