Staff Reporter

HYDERABAD: A dispute over sharing of space for sleeping on a pavement led to the alleged murder of a roadside vendor at Bandimet, a stone's throwaway from Monda Market police station, on Thursday night.

M. Papaiah (33), a native of Warangal district, used to sleep on the pavement after selling soda bottles everyday. However, Venkateswarlu (39), a mason, picked up a quarrel with Papaiah after he refused to give some space on the pavement to sleep.

Though passers-by tried to pacify them, Venkateswarlu threw a boulder on Papaiah, resulting in severe head injuries. Papaiah was rushed to Gandhi Hospital where he died later.

The police arrested Venkateswarlu.
