Chowara award presented

KOCHI: The Kerala Press Academy will be made an outstanding journalism-training institute, Chief Minister V.S. Achuth- anandan said here on Friday. He was speaking after presenting the Chowara Parameswaran Award to Saji James of Samakalika Malayalam magazine here on Friday.

The Chief Minister also distributed certificates and prizes to students who had successfully completed the journalism programme. He offered all possible support for the academy. Thomas Jacob, chairman of the academy, presided.

Krishna Iyer gets award

Kochi: The former Supreme Court judge V.R. Krishna Iyer said here on Friday that working class people was capable of becoming good administrators. Mr. Iyer was speaking after receiving the V.K. Rajan memorial award from Chief Minister V.S. Achutha- nandan here. Minister for Fisheries S. Sarma, Mayor Mercy Williams and Balachandran Chullikad, poet, participated.
