KOCHI: Health authorities have made arrangements to give polio drops to children on Sunday, as part of the national Pulse Polio immunisation programme. Addressing presspersons at the Ernakulam Press Club on Friday, District Medical Officer K.T. Ramani said immunisation booths would function for 24 hours at railway stations, Kerala State Road Transport Corporation bus stands, boat jetties and the airport. Mobile booths also had been arranged. On the spreading of jaundice in Kochi, Dr. Ramani said four cases were reported from Pachalam on Thursday. "Jaundice cases peak during summer months, and consumption of contaminated water spreads the disease. People must wash their hands using soap, clean utensils well and have only boiled water. Hands should be washed with soap after going to the toilet."
