BANGALORE: Two men robbed a student of a gold chain and a mobile phone, together worth Rs. 30,000, at knifepoint in Cubbon Park police station limits on Thursday. The police said that around 7.30 p.m. Vikram (14) of J.P. Nagar came out of the Karnataka Lawn Tennis Association stadium after practice. Two men waylaid Vikram near the stadium, took away his chain and the phone after threatening him with a knife. The Cubbon Park police have registered a case.
Boy killed
Anjaneya (9), son of a labourer, was killed when he was run over by a crushed stone-laden lorry in Magadi Road traffic police station limits on Friday. The police said that around 6.30 a.m. the lorry ran over Anjaneya while he was sleeping on a heap of sand near his house in Magadi Road Railway Colony. Anjaneya's father Thippeswamy and two others, who were also sleeping next to him, had a miraculous escape. The driver abandoned the lorry and ran away. Thippeswamy is a native of Pavagada in Tumkur district and works as a labourer here. The Magadi Road traffic police have registered a case.
Set on fire
A 25-year-old woman was set on fire allegedly by her husband in Hanumanthanagar police station limits on Thursday night. Anuradha, who suffered serious burns, is battling for life in a hospital. Anuradha's husband Sathyanarayana, who is at large, was allegedly harassing her for more dowry, the police said. Sathyanarayana, a wholesale fruit merchant, had married her three years ago. The Hanumanthanagar police have registered a case.
Pedestrian killed
A 75-old man was killed on Friday after he was hit by a car, opposite Kendriya Vihar Apartments in Yelahanka Police Station limits. The victim, Mastan Sab of Marutinagar, was seriously injured. He was admitted to a private hospital where he died.
