Special fund for unauthorised colonies

Staff Reporter

NEW DELHI: The Delhi Cabinet has decided to create a separate Special Unauthorised Colonies Development Fund to facilitate the process of upgrading of services in about 1,500 unauthorised colonies that are being regularised under a decision of the Union Cabinet. The decision was taken at a meeting presided over by Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit on Thursday. Ms. Dikshit later disclosed that the Delhi Government would bring a detailed Cabinet note at the earliest for creation of a Special Unauthorised Colonies Development Fund.

The Government would also generate funds from its own resources and approach the Union Government for allocation of funds under the Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission.
