Thiruvananthapuram: Minister for Public Works T.U. Kuruvilla has directed the Roads division chief engineer to cover the stretch of the Amayizhanjan canal near Thakaraparambu with concrete slabs. He was participating in a meeting to review the progress of public works in the Thiruvananthapuram West constituency. A decision had been taken to cut down the trees posing a hurdle to the development of MG Road at Palayam. "The department has taken up a programme to plant saplings in place of the trees that are to be felled for widening roads. As many as 600 saplings have already been planted," he said.
