Second round of Pulse Polio tomorrow

Thiruvananthapuram: The second round of the Pulse Polio campaign will be held across the State on Sunday.

The district health administration said all arrangements had been made for administering oral polio vaccine to 3,08,593 children below five years of age in the district.

As many as 2,475 booths would be set up in the district. These would include booths at public and private hospitals, primary health centres, anganwadis and public places such as railway stations, bus stations and the airport.

Mobile booths had also been arranged. The booths would function from 8 a.m. till 5 p.m.

All children who were administered polio vaccine in the first round held on January 7 should be given the vaccine on Sunday also.

Thiruvananthapuram district had achieved almost 99 per cent immunisation coverage in the first round of Pulse Polio.

Law Minister M. Vijayakumar would formally inaugurate the second round of the campaign at Women and Children hospital at Thycaud.
