Spiritual leader arrives for function

Thiruvananthapuram: Spiritual leader Mata Amritanandamayi arrived on a two-day visit to the city here on Friday evening. The Mata is scheduled to address a civic reception at the Shanghumughom beach on Saturday evening. The public meeting will be followed by a `satsang,' `bhajan,' mass meditation session and `darsan' for devotees. The function will also mark the inauguration of new charitable projects taken up by the Math. The KSRTC and the math will operate special bus services to the venue. — Special Correspondent

NABH accreditation for KIMS

Thiruvananthapuram: The city-based Kerala Institute of Medical Sciences (KIMS) has secured the National Board on Hospitals & Healthcare Standards (NABH) accreditation. KIMS has already got accreditation of the Australian Council on Healthcare Standards International (ACHSI). A spokesman of KIMS claimed that it was now the only hospital in the country to have both national and international accreditations. — Staff Reporter

Dance competition

Thiruvananthapuram: Participants from 30 colleges across the State will take part in the inter-collegiate dance competition `Dhoom 2007,' organised by the Rosebowl channel, at Tagore Theatre on Saturday and Sunday. The first prize-winner will receive Rs.50,000 in cash and a certificate. The prize for the second and third places is Rs.25,000 and Rs.10,000 respectively. The preliminary round will be held on Saturday and the finals on Sunday. A cultural evening by leading artistes will be held on Sunday. The programmes will be telecast live on Rosebowl channel. The programme will be telecast later by ACV. — Staff Reporter
