An epic retold

Anchil Oral Arjunan

Certain scenes in Anchil Oral Arjunan, directed by Anil, indicate that the plot has been borrowed from the epic `The Mahabharata.' However, the representation of the characters is quite casual and ineffective. The redeeming factor is the dialogues that express the affection of the main character towards the senior members of his family. The script is by T.M. Razak.

Sudheendran's (Jayaram) father is dead and he has to look after a family that includes four elderly persons — his mother, an elder sister who is divorced and his father's two sisters, both spinsters.

Sudheendran is attached to his family and attends to all their needs. In the process, he borrows a lot of money and lands in debt. Some of his nephews claim the ancestral property and attempt to drive out Sudheendran's family.

Jayaram strikes his usual form in the role of the loving son and protector of the family.

The cast includes Padmapriya, Samvritha, Siddique, Kaviyoor Ponnamma, Kalpana and Srinivasan. Lyrics by Vayalar Sarath Chandra Varma and Rajiv Alunkal are set to music by Mohan Sithara. Anandakuttam cranks the camera.

The film is produced by Sree Uthrattathi Films Pvt.Ltd.

G. Jayakumar
