Mock funeral of State MPs

GULBARGA: The Kannada Sena took out a mock funeral procession here on Saturday of Members of Parliament from Karnataka for their "failure" to raise their voice against the "injustice" meted out to the State by the Cauvery Water Disputes Tribunal in its judgement.

The Sena activists, led by its president Somnath Kattimani, carried effigies of the MPs in a mock funeral procession from the Goa Hotel cross to the Deputy Commissioner's office. They accused the MPs of not putting pressure on the Union Government to reverse the judgment.

Protests in Bijapur

In Bijapur, activists of different organisations protested against the tribunal's award, in Basavanabagewadi town on Saturday. Protesters took out a procession from the Basaveshwar temple to the tahasildar office and shouted slogans.
