NALGONDA: A First Information Report (FIR) has been filed against a Congress MLA and two police officers on the basis of a constable's complaint that the trio was responsible for the death of his 18-year-old daughter. Suryapet Sub-Inspector P. Sreenivasa Naidu registered a case (crime no: 46/07) under section 174 of the Criminal Procedure Code (suspicious death). As the names of two officers figured in the complaint, Superintendent of Police Vijay Kumar appointed Nalgonda DSP Viswanatham Investigation Officer (IO). According to the FIR filed on February 7, constable Nirasanametla Guravaiah, posted at Rajapet, alleged that the "trio used goons to strangulate my daughter when she was alone in our home in Bhagat Singh Nagar in Suryapet on Wednesday." He said that the MLA had nursed a grouse against him following "my refusal to marry off my daughter to the MLA's second son". Speaking to The Hindu over phone on Saturday, the MLA clarified that he had nothing to do with the case. "I don't know them and we have never tried to get an alliance with them. The enquiry will prove that we are innocent," he said.
