Health card facility for police

MADURAI : It was important for police personnel to have insurance cover as they travelled a lot and were at constant risk, V. Pugalagiri, Managing Director, Vadamalayan Hospitals, said here on Saturday.

Medical claim and general insurance policies would greatly benefit them during crises, he said.

Dr. Pugalagiri was addressing a function organised to distribute `Vadamalayan hospitals family health card' for police personnel.

He said that a health camp conducted among the police sometime back revealed that many persons above the age of 35 years were suffering from hypertension.

"Once a year, health check up is a must for policemen as they work 365 days a year, regardless of Diwali, Ramzan or Christmas," Dr. Pugalagiri said.

Highlighting the features of the health card, he said that it offered, among other benefits, a 15 per cent reduction for specialist consultation fee for policemen and their family members.

"Such concessions are being offered as the cost of medical treatment has risen due to infrastructure cost and especially due to the high cost of medicines," he said.

M. Chidambarasamy, Commissioner of Police, urged the policemen to carefully plan their lives and that insurance would help them in their lives.

Thanking the hospital for its assistance, he asked the personnel to utilise the health cards properly.

S. Ayub Khan of Vadamalayan Hospitals said that those having the health card were entitled to 15 per cent reduction in hospital charges besides 30 per cent discount in all investigations.
