Subrata Mukherjee embarrasses Congress

Chanditala (West Bengal): Much to the embarrassment of the West Bengal Congress, WBPCC vice-president Subrata Mukherjee attended Trinamool Congress leader Mamata Banerjee's anti-farmland acquisition rally here, 10 km. from Singur, on Saturday.

"Mamata Banerjee is doing a great job in taking up the cause of the farmers who are unwilling to give up their farmland for the Tata Motors car project," Mr. Mukherjee said. "All forces should stand beside the Krishi Jami Rakhya Committee which is fighting for the cause of the farmers in Singur," Mr. Mukherjee said. He said he was attending the rally as the State chief of INTUC. — PTI
