ALAPPUZHA: Sailors of an unidentified ship anchored at outer sea off Alappuzha coast on Saturday collected more then 2,000 litres of fuel from various petrol pumps here with the help of local fishermen. District Collector said the authorities did not have any information on the incident. The Indian Coast Guard authorities also denied any information on the incident. According to the local fishermen, sailors of the ship, who spoke English and Hindi, raised alarm signals at outer sea, following which they reached the ship. They said, the sailors told them that the ship was facing shortage of fuel and offered them Rs.10,000 for purchasing fuel. Following this, two sailors boarded country rafts of the fishermen and arrived at Alappuzha town and bought fuel. The Coast Guard authorities said they would investigate into the incident.
