Protest against price rise planned

NEW DELHI: The All-India Forward Bloc — one of the four Left parties supporting the UPA at the Centre — on Saturday said it would launch a nationwide people's movement against price rice as the Government had ``miserably failed'' to keep the prices of essential commodities under check.

Party general secretary Debabrata Biswas said the Government remained silent as the inflation rate began spiralling a couple of weeks ago. Of the view that the rise in inflation and prices was the result of economic mismanagement, he pointed out that the Govt. had ignored suggestions made by Left parties.
