The Kerala Management Association (KMA) and MetLife Insurance will jointly organise `Kochi Live,' the first ever walkathon in the city on February 18. The event is being organised as a curtain raiser to the National Management Day and will be open to people from all walks of life. Professionals from several companies and institutions, celebrities from sports, film industry and politics, among others, will participate.
Aim
The aim of the walkathon is to bring together all the citizens of the city, said S.R. Nair, general convenor of the walkathon. The first prize in the overall category will be Rs.50,000. The second prize will be Rs.20,000 and the third prize Rs.10,000. The first prize for women will be Rs.5,000. The first prizes in the children's and senior citizens' categories will be Rs.5,000 each. The first 25 participants finishing the walkathon will be given special recognition. Special prizes await veterans and women. There is no registration fee. Anyone who wishes to participate can contact the KMA at 0484-2317917 or MetLife at 0484-2343686. The walkathon will be flagged off at 6.30 a.m. from Durbar Hall Ground. The route will be: Durbar Hall Ground -Jos Junction- M.G. Road-Banerjee Road -Marine Drive-BTH and Durbar Hall Ground. For every participant in the walkathon, the organisers of the event will contribute a specified amount to the District Child Welfare Society. Cochin Hospital will provide the necessary medical assistance and the Ernakulam District Athletic Association will provide the expertise.
