Thrissur: Therambil Ramakrishnan, newly appointed president of the Thrissur District Congress Committee (DCC), assumed charge on Sunday. Addressing party workers on the occasion, United Democratic Front (UDF) convener P.P. Thankachan said the Left Democratic Front (LDF) had lost the support of the people of the State. "No other front has won so much hate of the people in such a short while as LDF did. Victory is certain for UDF in the next elections," he said.
`Bad patch'
The outgoing DCC president M. P. Bhaskaran Nair said the Indian National Congress went through a bad patch during his tenure, but he was happy that many who left the party returned during the same period. Among those present on the occasion were KPCC treasurer C.N. Balakrishnan, T.N. Prathapan, MLA, P.P. George, Benny Behanan, K.P. Viswanathan and V. Balaram.
