CHENNAI: It was a whirlwind of a quiz as replies came instantaneously as questions were fired, be it on business houses, brands or business history. The `Tata Crucible The Campus Quiz 2007,' hosted by Tata Group at the Chinmaya Heritage Centre, Chetpet, here on Friday, was enlivening for both the participants and the audience. Quiz enthusiasts, totalling 165 teams, from various management and engineering colleges across the State participated. The regional finals had eight teams battling to gain entry into the national final at Mumbai on March 5. Formatted on a pyramid set-up, the quiz had two levels eliminating four teams in the first level. The questions, informative and yet tricky, set had the participants thinking. The abbreviation of Sodexho, SDX as in the New York Stock Exchange, was the crucial question that decided the winning team from the College of Engineering, Guindy. Ravi Viswanathan, vice president, Tata Consultancy Services, gave away a cash award of Rs.60,000 to G. Siddharth and Vijay Raghavendran, who made it to the national finals offering a cumulative prize money of Rs.15 lakh. R.S. Ram Narayanan and M. Shankar Narayanan, runners-up from the Thyagaraja College of Engineering, Madurai, bagged a cash prize of Rs.30,000.
