Arsenal beats Wigan

LONDON: Arsenal struck twice in the final 10 minutes as it came from behind to beat Wigan 2-1 in the English Premier League on Sunday. For the 11th time in 19 games at the Emirates Stadium, Arsenal fell behind, Denny Landzaat thumping Wigan into a 35th-minute lead.

But Fitz Hall turned a Mathieu Flamini cross into his own net with nine minutes remaining, and Tomas Rosicky headed the winner three minutes later.

Earlier, Bolton Wanderers strengthened its challenge for Champions League qualification with a 2-1 win over Fulham.

Beckham strikes

Meanwhile in the Spanish Primera Liga, David Beckham scored on his return to inspire Real Madrid to a 2-1 win on Saturday.

The results: EPL: Arsenal 2 bt Wigan 1, Bolton Wanderers 2 bt Fulham 1, Chelsea 3 bt Middlesbrough 0, Portsmouth 2 bt Manchester City 1.

Primera Liga: Real Sociedad 1 lost to Real Madrid 2; Real Betis 0 drew with Sevilla 0-0. — Agencies
