CHENNAI:
Governor Surjit Singh Barnala has offered his condolences on the death of S. Rangarajan, Chairman, Kasturi and Sons Ltd, proprietors of The Hindu group of publications.
"I am deeply shocked and grieved to hear about Mr. Rangarajan's demise," the Governor said in a message sent to N. Ram, Editor-in-Chief, on Sunday.
"Mr. Rangarajan was committed to journalistic ethics and gave new elevation and meaning to the profession. He was instrumental in the development of The Hindu and took it on a new path. His death is an irreparable loss to the journalist world," Mr. Barnala said and conveyed his condolences to the bereaved family members.
In a message sent to Shanta Rangarajan, wife of the deceased, the former Railway Minister Jaffer Sharief, said: "The demise of Mr. Rangarajan has impoverished the world of information. The field of sports has also suffered a great loss. He made The Hindu a world-class newspaper. His life will be a subject matter of study for a long time to come."
