THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Food and Civil Supplies Minister C. Divakaran has protested against the Centre's neglect in controlling prices. Addressing presspersons here on Sunday, the Minister said the entry of monopolies into the retail sector, inflation and neglect of the Centre in implementing the Essential Commodities Act were behind the price rise. The Centre neglected Kerala's demand for higher allocations of wheat, kerosene, sugar and cooking gas and measures to control prices. Mr. Divakaran said retail chains entering the market were hoarding goods. The State Government had taken all possible steps to check prices. As a result, the prices of chilly and pulses had come down. "Prices will come down further, if the traders cooperated," he said.
